Spiritual Sunday. "Love Isn't Love"

Charlotte and Ginger host these great spiritual sundays. To join in post and add you name at http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com

Growing up I heard the people who hurt me often say, I love you.'  Even when I was beaten or raped or put down - soon after I heard the words....'I love you....I want the best for you....I'll be there for you...'  I didn't know any different. I believed them.

If I did or said something they didn't like.....they left...shutting me out...leaving me to myself...punishing me for being human...for having needs. I spent days alone..isolated...locked out of their world. They refused to talk to me...or give me any attention.  I learned to withdraw...to hide....to go away deep inside myself...living in my own world...and taking out 'their love' on myself....hurting my body...torturing my mind. It's taken me a long time to figure out their love wasn't love at all.

When He touched me...showed me what love really is....I couldn't accept it for a long time. I do now. His love has brought healing and freedom in ways I could never have imagined. I now know...love isn't love unless you give it away...in ways that make a  difference. Love stays....it never leaves....it never gives up....it keeps no record of wrongs...It always protects...always trusts...always hopes...always persevers.

Love isn't love until you give it away....

"Love isn't love until you give it away..." Great video Nikki. Beliefs like these, make life much easier to "live" rather than to be merely "endured". Take care and thanks so much for sharing. :)

This is so good. Love Gives. God gave His best to us to show us true love. We can't give what we don't have. That's why we have to receive the love that God gives to us so we can give it to others. True love gives! Thanks for this reminder. May we all learn to love like this!

I've read twice now...love doesn't hurt. I'm in a season of immense pain from infidelity that has been going on in my marriage throughout it's inception 20 years ago. The last time I discovered unfaithfulness it was with going on with three different women and none cared he was married just incensed about the other women. I hurt all the time.

"Love isn't love until it is given away" - such true words! And Debra is right: love does not hurt.

I don't think I have let you know yet -- one at a time I have been contacting followers -- that my Blest Atheist blog went down, and I replaced it with 100th Lamb (www.emahlou.blogspot.com). The explanation is there.

I appreciate you sharing so vulnerably. It will bless many and show them that accepting Christ's love is possible despite how humans can twist the true nature of love.

Hey Sarah,

I know that Jesus for me is the person I can go to when I have real human emotion and He never gets mad. I have had the same experience as you. And everytime I am angry or hurt, it just blows my mind that I can cry and ask God why or hit the pollows on my bed and be mad at God and He never gives up. I pray that the real love you and I have found in Jesus, I can one day find in a husband. Because I am not going to live my married life the way I lived my childhood, just like you, hiding within myself.

Great post my sister in Christ,
Amanda
