Thankful Thursday - Scars

"To be alive at all is to have scars." J.D. Salinger.

We all have them - scars on our bodies, or invisible ones on our soul. Scars that got there because of hurt, pain or some horrible mistake we made.

Scars that once left deep imprints and caused tremendous angst and shame, now simply remind of us what was.....a time past.....of what we fought, made it through, overcame.

Scars that have become marks of victory over things we once believed would bring us down.

Scars are proof we survived.

We overcame the tough stuff and lived to tell the tale. Those scars reminders every day, if we could make it through those horrors, and devastation, we are able to make it through whatever else comes our way.

Happy Thursday, Guys.

It's so true Nikki, we are able to move past those scars and later see how far we have come... I think for me, writing my blog keeps a detail of the ups and downs and what I made it through, especially some of the extremely tough trials I was sure I would never survive... I am now believing if I could have made it through that, I can make it through anything... xox...

Well said, Nikki. We can surprise ourselves sometimes how well we are able to survive in situations we thought were impossible. It makes us all the stronger for the next challenge that we face.

We can apply your wise words to wrinkles too. In a way , wrinkles also remind us of the past and of what we went through. We often here women say "I've earned my wrinkles with honesty" - one better believe that.

So well said Nikki. Our scars are great reminders of the true survivors we are.

I once wrote a blog post about a documentary that I watched about sperm whales. It included videos of them swimming in the ocean. I remember looking at their skin, and noticing the multiple scars that it bore. The narrator pointed out different ones, and said that they were scars left from battles with the giant squid, deep in the ocean where no one sees. Battles in the deep places, this is what we go through in life. But with the Lord's help, though we bear the scars, we will swim free.

GOD BLESS!

I think that scars are something that we all must endure through life...and sometimes they change us for the better. We have a choice in how we deal with scars. We can use them to allow ourselves to wallow in self-pity, or we can use them to make ourselves the best person that we can be. I love this post and I truly love your blog.

Yes, Nikki. I actually have an article on my draft waiting to be published about scars and wounds we have in life.

This pretty much sums up everything I want to say though. Perfect.
