Thankful Thursday

"So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing." T. S. Eliot

I used to be afraid of the dark. I couldn't sleep without a light being left on. My imagination ran too wild with all the creepy things that might happen. And I was also afraid of the quiet. I needed to talk, to do something, anything to break the silence.

Darkness doesn't scare me anymore and the calm, the peaceful, the quiet has become a sanctuary.  I love photographing nature. And in nature I've learned darkness has a light of its own and in the stillness birds and animals come close, they're not afraid. Being still I hear and see things that gives incredible joy. Thankful for.....

-the peace and calm of nature
-every bird, every small animal that flits across my path and brings incredible joy just watching it.
-the smell of the earth - breathing it in fills me with peace and hope.
-watching my girls even now as teenagers gathering up treasures from nature to bring home.
-and mostly that He is the Light in my darkness and in my stillness, his whisper always makes me want to dance.

Have a great Thursday, Guys!!!!

There are so many things in nature that feeds our souls. Birdsong, the chatter of squirrels, the whisper of the leaves on the trees, a brilliant sunset, etc. One could go on and on. Although I always enjoyed nature and the world God has created for us, everything became more brilliant and more colourful when He changed me. Thank you for your post and Happy Thanksgiving weekend to you and your family, Nikki!

Hugs & blessings,
Sandi

I love silence and calm, but I'm still not a fan of the total darkness. I must be able to see a hand in front of my face.

Isn't it funny how things change as we age?

I admit it, I'm still afraid of the dark! But, when my thoughts begin to run away with imagined scary stuff, I think about this verse:

"I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." (John 8:12, NLT)

The Light of the World is all I need.

GOD BLESS!
