Thankful Thursday

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” Lao Tzu

She was a slave....owned by a man....forced to live under someone's rule. She saw things....horrible things.....her sibs chained and sold...others she knew and loved...beaten. She herself was given tasks beyond what anyone should endure. And the worst....her people were powerless to stop it.

How did Harriet Tubman get to be so strong? Where did she find the courage to break free and then go back and help others find freedom too?

Love.....she knew God loved her......and she knew with that love....she had been given equal rights as everyone else. Knowing that compelled her to do the brave thing.....

Love is a powerful force. This week thankful for.....

-saw a one woman play, Spirit of Harriet Tubman. It was amazing....and the message powerful. The take away - don't let anyone ever define you or tell you what you can and can't do. If it's in your heart....then it's right for you.
-kindness of a stranger - came out of a store and found my car mirror broken. A note was left and a number to call. The woman paid for the damage - her integrity reminded me that there are more good people than not.
-Freedom to come and go and do whatever I like....I think I live in the best country ever.
-people I've met from writing my books, Dancing Softly and A Twist of Innocence.....they're amazing....kind....forgiving.....their courage and strength and love inspires me to live my best.
-the power of His love......it's what gives me the courage to follow my heart and reach for my best....

Good morning Nikki,
Freedom is a wonderful thing! I never spent any time in prison and yet, I felt like I had been incarcerated most of my life, right up until the day I got married.
A couple of weeks ago, for the very first time, my mother told me that she had been wrong.
I thank God that my mother has had a change of heart and that my hubby was there to hear her tell him that I couldn't have chosen a better man to spend my life with! {It's a long story}.
Given the history between my mother and me, it was a miracle!
I am thankful for miracles today. I am thankful for His love that enabled me to be who I am and not listen to the lies and put downs from the past.

Thank you my friend, being real and allowing those of us who are not quite so brave to also have a voice. Happy Valentines Day to you and those you love!

Blessings and hugs,
Sandi

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! This post just gives me chills...good chills! How inspiring from beginning to end..and how confirming. God recently has been encouraging me to read on strong women of faith and their walk...this encourages me to do so. Reading your post is always an encouragement from a strong woman of faith.

Oh that mirror just tells me that there are caring people still alive...yeah!
Thanks for sharing...this just lifted my spirit more than I can express.
