Still I'll Trust

Linking up with Charlotte at Spiritual Sunday  & Laura at Brag on Fridays

"It's all very well to read about sorrows and imagine yourself living through them heroically, but it's not so nice when you really come to have them, is it?"  Anne of Green Gables

I watched the news last night....and heard about the tornadoes in the mid-west. I thought of those people caught its destruction. One devastating storm....and BOOM - everything that defines who you are.....gone. How does someone get over that? How do they begin to rebuild? Why did God let that happen? Why do some people around the globe have to struggle with horrible terrible things? Why the pain? Why the terrible losses?

I used to wonder all the time why God let me go through what I did. I used to scream at Him....tell Him that He wasn't fair or loving like He said. Not if He'd let those bad things happen. But then one day....I stopped asking why. Something in me shifted....and I realized I may never know the answers.....but one thing I knew for sure......it was only His gentle love that worked in my life...... restoring....rebuilding..... healing...... freeing.  No matter what happens....how bad something is......I'll always trust in His unfailing love.....

Still I sing of your unfailing love.......

And there is so much pain...when you get behind the masks we wear we are all in need.

And though I do not understand the why, I do know the one who does and will make all things new.

There are glimpse of glory in the mess.

Love you Nikki!

Beautifully worded my friend. Only HE knows the lessons we must learn to become who we are meant to be, to better help others!! Wishing you a good week-end... and that this snow and wind quickly gets by us this week-end... hugs, and blessings HHL

Yes the weather brought fright to many of us....I live 12 hrs from the cities that the tornados hit...but my sister and niece and her babies all live there, good friends live there and we had heard that some of the cities that are close to my family and friends were wiped out....was joyful to hear their voices saying "hello"...sad for those that did lose loved ones....as I went to bed last night and meditating over the ups and downs of the day, as you I realized we have but one we can fully trust in .....and I went to sleep peacefully

I think of the words of a song (and I may not have it exactly correct):
God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind . . .
When you don't understand,
When you can't see His hand,
Trust His heart.

Hope you have a great weekend!

While I may not know the reason for sorrow and pain, I trust in Him. Beautiful song and photos of butterflies.

I'm praying for the victims of all of these terrible tornadoes.

Sarah, I too use to have the same questions that I'd hover on but now they may be fleeting thoughts. Mostly I trust that God will provide me with whatever I need in any of the circumstances I am in and it's all for the good!
Beautiful post!

And we see a lot of unfair things going on around us. Daily. But His unconditional love came down to strengthen us, to heal us, to give us hope, etc...Trials, though at different levels for every person, I pray will lead us to Him...God bless sister and have a great weekend.

My heart breaks for those in my state who are without homes or those they love. Praying for them all and asking God to be close to them and give them "His gentle love."

I see a glass winged butterfly in this video...so cool how they segue between the pictures and make them appear and disappear like butterflies!!! This is a beautiful song!!!! David? We are not meant to know many things, if we knew it all we would be too like God. And I think once we get to heaven, we won't even care, it will all be gone, only good feeling remaining for eternity.

The news is so sad. I am praying for everyone. We do not have the answers but must trust in God in all situations. The song is beautiful.

I know all the hard and bad times in my life - with the prayers of others, led me running straight into the arms of His loving embrace, And He's never let me go. We need to pray the same for all those affected.
Good post Nikki...people wonder..doubt..push away - but He wants us to RUN to HIM.
Love,
Jul

Thank goodness no matter what is happening around us, He is still in control and promises to hide us under the shelter of His wing until the storm passes...

We can trust Him if even we don't understand.....

Beautifully said.

I just posted yesterday something about Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. I love their faith. They were so sure that God would save them. But, their faith took that extra step and said, BUT EVEN IF HE DOESN'T..."

That is the kind of faith that goes beyond knowing the answer "WHY" - and relies on the heart of the One who loves us.

GOD BLESS!

Hi, Sarah,
Yes, bad things happen. I questioned so much when I lost 3 siblings in front of me on the way to my dad's funeral, yet through it all I have learned so much about God's love and grace. How He makes all things work together for good is so far beyond my ability to comprehend!
Blessings!

I know what you mean. Going through such ordeals...how can he allow it, such pain? But then I look at the outcome like your testimony and I think of His amazing power to sustain us.

Our prayers go out to those affected. We'll find out why? when we see Christ's face, I suppose. Words of encouragement.

What a wonderful post from the quote at the beginning to the hope at the end. Now, I'm heading to listen to your song.

I always like the songs here. We must like the same music.

There are so many things in this world that we do not and cannot understand. That's where faith and trust comes in. Thank you for once again sharing your insight with us.
