Thankful Thursday

"We'll be Friends Forever, won't we, Pooh?' asked Piglet.
Even longer,' Pooh answered." A.A. Milne

Funny how some people are friends forever.....even after they're not here anymore. I still think of those people who made a difference in my world.....who changed the way I look at things.....and who believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself.  People...even some animals showed me a different way of living than I knew. I never wanted them to leave but I've discovered even in death or life changes they still live on in me. Today I'm grateful for all those who happened in my life and made a difference.

-Mr. W. for his neat stories and words of wisdom. The thing I remember most about this wonderful elderly Jamaican man.....his simple words that still play in my head.....especially his phrase 'inch by inch it's a cinch. Yard by yard it's hard.'
-my first dog S. She was the best. A true friend who gave me incredible comfort at a time I desperately needed it.
-My friend S who loved Anne Murray tunes. At night when she couldn't sleep she'd call and ask if I'd just hold the phone and listen. I did.
-Gaye....we connected on twitter. She told me I'm a fighter. I told her so was she. She lost her battle with cancer but her words and awesome slant of seeing things still live in my heart.
-I don't like changes. I don't like when people have to leave....I'm glad He's a constant....always there.....I'm totally grateful for that.

What a marvelous perspective!
I probably spend too much time looking backwards, missing people and moments gone before.
I'm going to try, instead, to give thanks for having been blessed by those times.

Some people do leave a mark on us. We will always love them and they live on through us. I too am thankful for a special few, some that are gone and some that live on. You have made a mark in my life, by your encouragement.

Such a wonderful post with a special meaning. As I grow old I have so many memories of the past and I too count my blessings for having known them and for having them in my life.
Blessings to you dear friend.

Lots of special relationships God gave us. What a wonderful gift!!! Special ones are etched in our hearts. Oftentimes, I wonder how much I might have missed by being a friend instead to those I encounter or God places in my path...Blessings to you sister.

I know one thing that you are strong and that you are loved....God brings people in and our of lives for a season sometime but He knows the jewels He is dropping and leaving behind with each person He brings into our lives...

I too am thankful that He is constant and will never leave or forsake us...

Hi Nikki,
Love that quote from Pooh! I've always had a soft spot for Pooh because I always called my second son Pooh Bear.
Oh, I am thankful for so many people in my life.
I lost my best friend to cancer and what a void it has left in my life but the good news is, I know I will see her again!
God is a constant and He helps me to be thankful even when things aren't going the way I think they should.
Thank you for your inspiring post. God bless you!

I hate changes, too. I still hear Dr. T's words in my head, too. He used to call me Dr. Sandidge with his great Swiss accent. Thanks for sharing this. :)
Hugs to you my friend,

Not all of Gods blessings can be with us forever but the important part is that you saw the blessings in the gifts He gave you.

Has someone close to you just died? I hope not. That is the hardest thing about me getting old, watching all my friends die. I have a friend now on a ventilator and a machine to keep her heart beating. I always want to live my life so that even way after I am dead, people will remember me with good memories, that I was always kind and helpful and made a difference. Not do nothing so that I am never even missed.

I always enjoy reading your thanks list because it produces a thankful heart in myself and brings things to my attention.

Yesterday a friend from elementary school through high school died..although I have not seen him in years I felt the loss...then I found out my cousin works with his wife! My cousin has just lost her that not God, that she will be able to minister to someone I once went to school with?

What a blessing it is to read this post. I too have taken time to thank dear mentors who have gone home to heaven. They have given so much.

Oh, like you, I find that changes brought about by death are painful to go through. My very own dear husband... there are mornings I still find it hard to believe he's no longer around.

But yes, I am so thankful that God gave him to me. Next to my parents who gave me life and a good upbringing, I can say Ernie is God's best gift to me.

Thank you for sharing. What a beautiful way to remember.
