Growing in the Hard Places

Linking up with  Charlotte at  Spiritual Sunday  and Laura at Brag on Fridays and Daily Walk in Grace

"I was confused. You cleared my mind. I sold my soul. You bought it back for me and held me up and gave me dignity. You gave me hope when I was at the end and turned my lies back into truth again. You even called me friend." Anne Murray

Hope -  It's the most important thing a person can have. Anyone can get by with few creature comforts....and even little food......but nobody can make it without hope.

Hope is what has always kept me going no matter how pitch black it got....or how desperate.
Hope.....it's the thing that kept me holding on when it all seemed so pointless.
Hope....it came from Him.....a tiny flickering hope....that pushed me to hold on.....and never give up....even when so many of my friends were dying around me.

Hope....it came in a stranger's smile....and even a small flower growing in a rocky place. I want to tell everybody who'se fighting a tough battle...don't ever give up....keep holding on and hope....believe.  Things really do turn around.....

Below is a trailer my dgt made for me last year. I posted it before but in writing my friend's story.....it reminds me how much He reaches out to all of us....sometimes in small ways...sometimes big.....to give us the hope we need so we don't give up.

That trailer is powerful. Love the flowers illustration. Remembered when you first shared it Nikki. Thank you again for sharing and your words on hope! Blessings.

There have been so many times in my life when it seemed that HOPE was all I had. I remember studying the word in scripture and realizing that it's so much greater than a wish. It's expectation. Last year, I found myself falling into the hopeless trap about something. I stopped expecting. That's not of God and not a good place to be, is it?

Now, to enjoy your trailer.

As soon as it started, I remembered seeing this. Either I'm having an oddball experience, or you have shared it previously. (Hope it's the latter since the former would be kinda creepy. Ha!)

I remain completely inspired by my blog friend, who grew like a flower in hard places.

God used the title of my book, "Joy in the Mourning" to give a girl who was kidnapped hope until she was rescued! She said she just kept saying those words over and over. How amazing, humbling, yet rewarding to hear how God can use the tiniest thing we say or write to give hope! I'm sure He has used your word many times to spark HOPE in others.

Hope has been my reading all month..the word just jumps from every page I read...in fact "The Allure of Hope" is the book I just completed.

You confirmed again...as you have many times, what God is doing in my heart...thanks for this very "hopeful" post...I was truly blessed this morning.

Thanks also for allowing your testimony to bring hope to so many

I think you posted this a long time ago, I remember it. SO powerful, and worth watching again and again!!! Is this your daughter's voice? This is so well done, and inspiring.

Great post. Where would we be without hope? It sustains Ron and I as we deal with his cancer.

Oh, you are so right! It is about hope. Hope. I understand that more and more, the older I get. In the past I have relinquished hope to quickly, only to have to backtrack to retrieve it. I want to learn to hold on to it tighter from the front end.

Hope is one of the most important things we can have isn't it - do you think everyone has it naturally or is a gift? sandie

Powerful...

even in the hard places.... we survive. Hope and prayer are a powerful mix. I am thankful for those prayers that were uttered in your and your sister's behalf.

...Because someone cared enough.. to pray!

I love that song by Ann Murray too.

Blessings to you Nikki

The key, I think, is to have hope without being attached to the outcome. We always hope, but we have to accept what comes our way.

Hope. What would we do without it? God knows best how to "answer" our hopes.

Wow. Hope is a wonderful thing. But what do you do with hope that is deferred and makes a heart sick? I'm paraphrasing there but I've always wondered how to deal with deferred hope...

Yes Hope is so important. Without it, we fail at so many things. I made a painting, HOld on to Hope, and the lady who bought it, wrote this in her blog: http://rinaperu.com/2011/12/28/hope/
Have a great week! Patsy from

You made some decent points there. I looked on the internet for the subject and found most people will go along with with your site.
