Thankful Thursday

Linking up with Dayle at Simple Pleasures

"A bosom friend - an intimate friend, you know - a really kindred spirit to whom I can confide my inmost soul."  Lucy Maud Montgomery

Friends....buddies...they're great. They make bad times better....fun times the best...and living exceptional. When I started to write what I'm thankful for this week....it hit me how many awesome people are part of my world. People like.....

1. My friend who came over to tell me nothing was working out for her. We both must have been tired because the two of us cracked up laughing. Everytime she tried to get serious and talk.....she couldn't. We couldn't stop laughing.  By the time she left...both of us were really happy.
2. Another friend I went on a hike with.....We walked and talked and shared our hearts. Now we've made a commitment to hike together every week...
3. The people at Toastmasters. I've agreed to do my first speech in a couple of weeks. So far the longest I've spoken has been 29 seconds but at the end of March I'll be speaking to 70 women. I need to be ready. I'm gonna do this!!  Knowing I have support and encouragment helps alot.
4. The people in my writing group. I learn so much being with them. Their encouragement and support is pushing me to be the best writer I can.
5.Without Him in my life....I would have nothing. The hope, joy and happiness I feel is all b/c He loved me enough to never give up on me....to never walk away....For that.....I'm most grateful.

Yes dear Sarah God will and continues to give you the strength to do His work. It is always exciting to read what He is doing in your life. You are such a prime example of a mighty tool He is using for His glory. Thank you.

Blessings and hugs dear one.

Oh these are great..I so relate to when nothing is working and you both just laugh...my friend said, "it is time to put on my crash helmet" instead of us both just crying we laughed and laughed...God knew it was good for our spirits
Yea! On toastmasters....what an accomplishment.

Sarah,
I was in a writer's group for a few years and I have to say they are the most supportive people I know! They build us up when we think we don't deserve it. You go girl - I know you will give a wonderful talk and I, also, can't wait to hear about it!

This was one of my favorite Thankful weeks yet. I loved how they all connected to friendship. (That quote in the beginning is one of my older daughter's favorite quotes. She loved Anne of Green Gables and has a bosom friend, too.)

My favorite was the first one about you and your friend laughing your frustrations away.

And I'm so proud of the toastmaster's progress. Can't wait to hear all about the big talk.

It is good to have a heartfelt kind of laugh. They seem to iron out the wrinkles on our foreheads!!! Praying all is well with you sister, and may the Lord bless, guide, protect you and your loved ones. Take care!

sarah, if you speak like you write you will do great. I will pray for you, and that hearts and lives will be touched and changed forever.
I love it when I am with a friend and we get the silly giggles especially when things are not well.
Thank you for such a beautiful post.
Hugs, Sue

Laughter is powerful medicine for a heavy heart!
And what a blessing to be a friend, and have a friend, who lifts the other up when they're down.
Sarah, I know your Toastmaster's speech will be wonderful.
The Lord is with you :-)

Sarah, what a wonderful post. Somehow your "thankful Thursdays" always work well with Simple Pleasures, and this one is no exception. What greater simple pleasure than to enjoy the company of friends? And I'm proud of you for pushing through your fears with public speaking, and I'm all about writers finding their voice and going for it. Great post.

Thanks for visiting me - I see what you mean about the post theme. One thing I have learned is that God often gives jobs to the unlikely and gifts to self doubters and it's only with His hands over that person that the mission or gifts come to bear fruit. Surely your writing is a gift that He is using - therefore I wish you growing confidence in your writing. Betty x
