Thankful Thursday

Linking up with Dayle at Simple Pleasures. If you want to join in post and add your name at http://alittleofthisandthat2.blogspot.com/

"My gratitude for good writing is unbounded; I'm grateful for it the way I'm grateful for the ocean." Anne Lamott

I discovered that I love to write. I can spend hours writing...spinning stories....getting lost in another world. And I love books....ones that grab and hold me.....calling to me throughout the day....knowing when the kids are in bed.....I can get lost in someone else's words. I'm grateful for writing and books and words.

-This week I got the book Laying Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg. A writing book that excites me because it's about passion and heart and feeling and soul. I totally relate to that. I find myself reading it the way I eat desert...waiting....wanting to draw it out.....not wanting it to ever end....

-My daughter Shelley writes poetry and short stories. She's been doing that for a few years now. I love reading her stuff. Her faith and insight about life comes through in a gentle and beautiful way.

- There are some neat writers online that I've connected with - Donna Dawson, WandaWinters-Gutierrez, Dolores Ayotte
Terri Blackstock Reading their books....their stories...feeling their heart...is the best....and there's so many others who share their writing through their blogs.Debbie, Sheila, Terri and so many more....too many to list....

-The best....the book that inspires me the most.....the number one best seller.....a book that's made a difference in my world.....The Bible. Even though I don't understand so much of it.....in some strange way.....it pumps me with hope...and gives me courage and the faith to to trust that no matter what's going on......it's always going to somehow turn out okay....

Well, I'm not making any comments on your post today, because it's all about Shelly. I just checked out her blog, and you have an amazing daughter!!! I just left her a comment. She has a wonderful blog with great colors, pictures, and music. And she writes so beautifully, one would think she is very old. She is truly talented. She is a teenager, but what is her age?

Beautiful post, Sarah. I was thanking the Lord just last week for the freshness of His Word. Never do I pick up my Bible and not come away with something fresh and new. It is truly a great simple pleasure.

There certainly are words in the Bible that brings great comfort to me. I don't claim to understand it all, but Jesus loved people. I wish I could read more but my eyes get very tired quickly. It sounds like writing runs in your family. I know you must be so proud of your daughter. Give her a hug from me. God bless you. Wanda

I stand in complete agreement with you Sarah. I love to read, and words have always been my passion, but there is no word like The Word in my book. Nothing compares.

I liked what you said here:

...The Bible. Even though I don't understand so much of it.....in some strange way.....it pumps me with hope...and gives me courage and the faith to to trust that no matter what's going on......it's always going to somehow turn out okay....

Its is the LIVING Word - that's why it pumps us up with HOPE! Isn't that cool? There are an ocean of words in the BIBLE and when believed and followed, will lead us to the promised Land.
