Spiritual Sunday "This Little Light of Mine"

Spiritual Sundays are hosted by two awesome people...Charlotte and Ginger. To join in just post and then add your name at http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/

"There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle." Robert Alden

When I was a kid...I couldn't talk. I was too afraid...I held my breath... too scared to let my guard down...to scared to trust that I wouldn't get hurt.  I withdrew....and lived in a make believe world. One day I invented a friend - a street light.. When I'd drive up to it...it always turned green just for me and when it was red...it was because it wanted me to stay and talk. That traffic light helped me hang on....helped me get through some pretty dark times. Funny thing - I have another Friend who is a Light....He's my best friend....just like that traffic light was - only differnce - He's for real. Now all I want to do is shine this little light of mine....

So amazing how small things can make a difference (a traffic light, an imaginary friend). I love that it would turn green for you and stop you so you would talk to it. You have a beautiful imagination and a beautiful soul.

Sarah,

I too was afarid to let people in when I was a little girl. I think when I found Jesus, it helped me to make other friends! It's like His light shown in my soul and reached the scary places to allow me to trust. I think because I know that I have a best friend in Jesus who will always pick up the pieces of a broken heart. You also help my let to shine brighter because I think Christians need support from one and another. It helps to know that other people can feel His awesome presence when the rest of the world wants to laugh and judge. You keep shinin' and I shine with you.

Hugs,
Amanda

It's amazing what children can come up with to cope. I'm so glad you have the light of Christ in your life now. This Little Light song always makes me think of Vacation Bible School. That's the first place I heard it. Thank you for letting your light shine for Spiritual Sundays each week.

Wow. I love this post. What is it about street lights and kids? I never made friends with one, but I always tried to will them to change at my silent command. It never did work--with street lights or anything else in my life. lol

These days, I leave all that to the other light. Have a blessed day.
