Spiritual Sunday "Making a Difference".

Thank you to Charlotte and Ginger for hosting Spiritual Sundays. To join in...post and add your name at http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com
Sometimes life can be really hard...for the elderly man living alone feeling like no one cares if he lives or dies...for the couple struggling to make ends meet.....for the mentally ill wondering why they live as outcasts and their lives so difficult....for the woman diagnosed with cancer... fearful she won't live to see her children grow up...for men and women and children...all across the globe broken....alone....afraid....living in shame and guilt...some fighting everyday just to eat...or to have some sense of purpose...

I remember those people who reached out to me...they didn't care about their position or power...they simply stopped to take time to reach out and show kindness and compassion. They offered tangible help and support to a person whose life was completely out of control. I remember the bank manager who reached into his pocket and pulled out some bills and handed it to me...and a store owner who let me sleep in the back of his store when it was cold out...and a social worker who told me to call her house and talk to her mother until she got home even though she was advised by her supervisor not to do that. Those people and others made a difference in my life...they cared enough to take time....

I want to be one of those people who takes time for others...and to make a difference.. I used to wonder what it meant when I read "He called us to be a peculiar people" but I think it means to shine a light for someone else....There are people dying and it's time to lend a helping hand.....to life...the greatest gift of all.....

Thanks for the reminder....to really see what's going on around us. One of my favorite songs has a line in it that says, "Break my heart for what breaks yours, God."

Sarah, thanks for reminding us to keep our eyes and hearts open. Like you, many helped me when I was really struggling.

Blessings,
Tammy

Sarah
You are making a difference here and I am sure for many others in our world. Thank you for reminding us that there are many who need so little from us...a touch, a prayer, a bit of love...and it will make such a huge difference. Bless you Sarah for this post today. It has been used by God to touch me.

Sarah, As I read your post and the comment you made on Faded Ladies I just had to tell you about a little girl in my SS Class this morning. This child has been a bus kid since before starting to school. She has been abused, used, thrown out a window by her step father. So many things I heard before she ever got to my class. She stayed with her grandmother some and she was going to try and get the little girl. That's all she would talk about. I'm going to live with my grandmother!
This morning she came in and I knew something was wrong. I called her up to desk and put my arm around her and ask her what was wrong. She had tears in her eyes and said "My grandmother is moving to Okla" My heart was broken. I told her I would be her grandmother. I ask if her Mom and step dad would let me talk to her if I called. She told me they would not. I could not hold the tears back. Here is a lovable child that is going through things we will never know. Yet she keeps coming to Sunday School. I encourager her all I could and then we prayed as a class. Pray for this child. Her name is Miracle and she indeed needs a Miracle.

In a world where most people think only of themselves, it is refreshing to focus on others and their needs. If we do that, God will take care of our needs. Thanks so much for sharing and God bless.

Memorial Day, a day to remember...you were remembering not necessarily those who went before you, but those who made a difference, and deciding you, too, will make a difference. What a beautiful testimony is the well-lived, loving, caring life! God bless you, Sarah.

I think it is easy for us to lose sight of the fact that we are called to love and help other people. Your testimony is always inspiring to me and makes me want to be a better person. You are making a difference in other people's lives by sharing with us on Spiritual Sundays each week. Thank you for that.
Blessings,
Charlotte

What a lovely post. I know that you know better than most of us how hard life can be. It's a testament to your spirit that you care so much for others. I, too, am grateful for the kindness people have shown me, and also my daughter. People I never saw again. They were truly doing God's work. Bless you.
