Books Worth Checking Out

I love to read...to get lost in a book...and I especially love to read books that impact me in some way.... I met these two awesome writers online....I've gotten to know them and they've written some powerful books. I wanted to showcase two of their books for anyone in the market for something inspirational to read...

Wanda Winters-Gutierrez & Grace Ann Newwarth
"Family Secrets" Letters to my Grand-daughters

Imagine if you suddenly had no idea where you were, who you were with, and what had happened. In Family Secrets: Letters to My Granddaughters, four-year-old Grace loses her memory and is plunged into an ever-widening circle of lies, suppression, and denial. The next thirty years are shrouded in family secrets that eventually pull every aspect of her life into darkness. Though the twists and turns she faced should have destroyed her, Grace Ann Neuharth lived to tell the tale through the unforgettable narrative style of inspirational author Wanda Winters-Gutierrez. Family Secrets will leave you intrigued, stunned, and ultimately inspired as you discover the kind of faith that enables a person to live through the unthinkable and move past survival to victory."
I asked Wanda why she chose to write this story:  My belief is every woman has a story and writing down that story can be a powerful tool to bring about inner healing ...and in the reading of these stories the healing is passed on. A couple of years ago Grace's daughter gave her a copy of my book The Search for Peace: A Woman’s Guide to Spiritual Wholeness and we began to email back and forth. She shared with me that she had been trying to write a book for years and had almost given up. As a non-fiction writer dealing with women’s issues her story intrigued me. I asked her to send me what she had and when I saw the overview I knew I had another assignment from God. Family Secrets is available at local bookstores or at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore/book.php?w=978-1-61566-133-6

Donna Dawson:  "Redeemed"

"Heather didn't want to leave her family.  But the strange events connected to her equally strange violent temper left her with no choice.  The teen finds herself fighting for her life on the streets of Toronto but in the midst of her darkness, she sees the street people as more than just lumps of trash tossed aside by society.  Just as Heather thinks she has lost all hope of finding freedom from the torment she lives with, she comes face-to-face with a Power stronger than that within her."

I asked Donna why she wrote this story:

My daughters, my husband and I were visit a friend in the Toronto Sick Kids hospital.  Our oldest daughter asked me "Mom, why are all these people lying on the road?"  While I knew the answer, I began to wonder about each person's story.  I talked to shelter workers and a few street people over the course of the next couple years and then began to write.  I wanted readers to realize that people living on the street are simply that--people.  Living on the street.  I wanted readers to open their eyes to the hurt and loss each one of these lost ones had suffered. This book is a fast paced romance suspense that packs a punch with it's message. Redeemed can be purchased at  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=redeemed+Donna+Dawson

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm always looking for good books. I've heard or seen a review of "Family Secrets." It sounded fascinating. I also believe that writing about our lives can be very healing. I know it has been for me.
