Thankful Thursday

"Out of difficulties grow miracles." Jean De La Bruyere

It's always been through the tough stuff awesome miracles have shone for me. Those things I walk around wishing never happened...the things that made me want to run and hide.

It's always been the grungy, messy, tough as nails stuff that Light has eventually brilliantly shone from. This week I'm thankful for.....

-The yuck stuff  - all of it. It's what stretched me and made me strong.
-The whole journey of a thing. It's weird when I've been in tough situations, I've wanted out, but when I'm near it's end and I stop to look at the big and little miracles that came out of it.....I'm in total awe and grateful for the experience.
-People who've hurt me. I see now those guys have given me a chance to really live my faith.
-The darkness - it's where stars shine the brightest.
-Mostly...knowing He's got a plan even in the horrible terrible no good very bad things. Situations might look dark, messy, broken....but somewhere in all of it He's there shining Light. And those horrible things eventually do work out good  - often not the way I might have wanted....but much better than I imagined.

Amen. I'm finding that out over these past few years. I see more now how God works in the tougher times.

When the tunnel looks the longest and the darkest, we sometimes have trouble seeing the Light at the end of it. But It's there, all the way through. I like "the darkness; it's where the stars shine the brighest." That's a fact! Thanks for another encouraging post, my friend.

Blessings & hugs,

Lovely post, Nikki. The tough times also make me appreciate the good times even more!

I liked your veiled reference to Alexander and his horrible terrible no good very bad day. I've been there, and so I get it.

But you're so right - sometimes the Light shines brightest in the middle of the yuck stuff of life!

I don't care for the ugly stuff but with those things we often grow which can be awesome. I wish it wasn't so hard but I trust in God's plan for me.

I know what you mean Nikki... When I look back I see how strong I have grown from all the difficult challenges that were placed before me... They were so hard to deal with at the time but coming through them, I could see how far they brought me:)

Now that is maturity, my friend, when we can see the goodness yield through the hard times.

It truly is the hard, tough, ugly stuff that makes us grow, and trust Our God. Once out on the other side...gratitude gushes forth!
Our God reigns!!
And your Testimony shows just how much!

Hi Nikki,

Good read this morning my friend, it brings Romans 5:3-4 to mind: “Not only so, but we rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character hope.”

We have to find some comfort in knowing that our suffering is not without a purpose, and even though we may not be able to rejoice right at the moment of our pain and suffering, it soon should follow! :)

Blessings sweet sister!

I am like Mother Teresa - I know God will help me handle things - just wish he didn't think I could take so much!

I just love this post Nikki. It is true, everything you have written. All the messy yucky stuff we have waded through and endured in our lives. I just love your perspective. And look where it has brought you today. You are awesome... really a bright spot in my world. Wish we could meet face to face. Grateful I dropped by here this morning.

Much love

Great list Nikki,
I would love if you would like to "Watchful Wednesdays" where others count the gifts.
