Thankful Thursday - Dream

“What’s important is that you make the leap. Jump high and hard with intention and heart. It’s up to you to make your life. Take what you have and stack it up like a tower of teetering blocks. Build your dream around that.” Cheryl Strayed.

Dreams. It's easy to be talked out of them. People who love us mean well, especially if we've come through a hard time. They want us to be safe. They want us to have things that fit into their ideas of what we need, what would make us happy, - the norms, the life experiences everyone chooses. Things that are easier to achieve, easier to grasp onto.

But desires, and passions and hopes, and dreams are personal. No one can feel what we feel. No one can sense the tug inside our gut pulling us in the direction where few go - the uncommon, the path rarely used.

It's often a struggle to say yes to that tug, to the dream, to the purposes we need to follow. But to not go after it is to live empty.

My friend's mother was a doctor. When she retired, she sold her house and all that she had and moved to El Salvador to provide medical care to the poor. At 65 she fulfilled a dream that had played in her heart most of her life. I was in awe of this woman and afraid for her but she is still there, happy, giving, and living her best life.

Today, I choose to build my life on the things that play in my heart and build my own dreams. I want to jump high and hard with intention. I want to live wild and free.

Have a great Thursday, Guys.

I don't know where the world would be if no one ever followed their dreams. Great post! That is an amazing story about your friend's mother. Have a nice weekend, Nikki!

Your friends mother sounds a most wonderful person and we are indeed fortunate that within this world of ours there is such a variety of people... some who are able to follow their dreams, whilst others find it that bit harder.
Perhaps the important thing is trying and living each day to the best of our ability.

All the best Jan

Dreams are great, but we should dream up to a certain age, and then turn to deal with our reality as it is, try to make it better. The world today is in a very bad shape (500 killings in Chicago during 2016!!, migrations of the worst kind flooding civilized countries etc..). Something is very wrong. Perhaps we live too much in dreams, slogans and theories, and do nothing substantial about reality.

Have a wonderful end of week!

It can be difficult to live our dreams, we use so many excuses that can hold us back. When I was younger I never allowed myself to entertain any of my dreams, I wanted to be stable but being 'stable' doesn't always allow us to live our life to the fullest xox

I am in a season of service I think. I wear a lot of *hats* right now - daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother. Sometimes I wonder if God has a *bigger* plan for me, some dream that He wants me to follow. Sometimes I look at what other people are doing, and I wonder if I've missed something. But then, God speaks to me quietly. He reassures me that fulfilling all these roles, with His Spirit to guide me, is a true calling and a privilege that He has granted me.

GOD BLESS!
