Thankful Thursday - Courage

"Courage is not the absence of fear but rather the judgement that something is more important than fear." Meg Cabot.

I used to think courage looked bold, confident, strong and fearless. But I don't believe that anymore.

For me, I feel the most courage when I know something is wrong or harmful to someone and I need to take a stand and have my voice.

I used to be afraid to speak up.....afraid to say what I really felt strongly about...afraid I'd look dumb, and maybe even be laughed at.

But there are some things that are too important....things I can't stay silent about, especially when I see a terrible injustice being done, not just to someone I love but also to strangers. If none of us says anything, that injustice will continue.

Courage - it hits me when I know something is right that I need to do.

Happy Thursday, Guys.

As I grow older, I seem to be braver to speak up when it is necessary.

I'm naturally very quiet but if I need to speak up, I often will. I have always been on the side of the underdog. Have been since I was a little girl. Of course if I am in a situation that requires me to speak out, I immediately pray for wisdom at that moment. My words are empty without His input. Another post with food for thought. Have a lovely day, Nikki.

Blessings,
Sandi

I've found as I get older I have more courage to stand up for my convictions. Not sure why that is but I feel more deeply the need to make right what is wrong.

Nikki, this explains courage perfectly... it is never easy but it is important, it is the people that have stood up for their beliefs that helped change the world. xox

Recently I was recommended a song, Brave, about 'saying what you want to say.' I don't always speak up, as one who generally tends to want to know all the 'information' before risking speaking. But know I need to listen more to the prompt of my 'gut' and the Holy Spirit. Thank you for this post!

We are called to be courageous, but in our own power, we often fail in fearful retreat. Only God can give us the courage to speak and act when needed. And, in my opinion, our brave voices and witness are needed like never before in this broken world.

GOD BLESS!
