Thankful Thursday - Gift

I feel that God has given me a very special opportunity that I should not let go to waste. I use the gift he has given me. Mattie Stepanek

Mattie Stephanek was a pint sized kid with a wheeze and a wheelchair. He had a mom and brothers all who suffered the same debilitating disease as him. His brothers died young. Mattie was given the same fate, but he  held onto a dream....to write a book and tell the world that love and faith and living is our reason for being alive.

Everyone has it....a gift of some kind.....to touch the world and make it shine.

I once worked with disabled kids. I remember the smallest things made them happy - clean sheets, a warm smile, a gentle touch, a kind word, the taste of ice cream. They taught me it doesn't take much to be happy and that life is full of beautiful things.

What's your gift? How are you using it to make the world a better place?

Happy Thursday, Guys!

Hi Nikki,
That's a tough one! Some of us know what our giftings are and others are not even aware of them but those around us can see them clearly. Myself? I guess I just try to help make the world around me a better place by doing my best to represent His love and grace. Something as simple as standing in a long line-up at the check out this time of year and smiling at the cashier when you finally get there. A kind word goes a long way when a clerk is frazzled and dumped on because the customers ahead of you were complaining. This is a wonderfully thought provoking post to ponder, Nikki. Thanks for sharing and have a fabulous weekend.

Blessings & hugs,
Sandi

So much of the time it is the simple things that make us the happiest just like the kids that you worked with! We just need to stop and take time to be grateful for them. :)

Sometimes it's hard to "claim" our gifts because we feel like that is self-serving or bragging. But, I truly believe that the Lord wants us to know our gifts and to use them. I suppose my writing is my gift, and using the words that God gives me to encourage others in this thing called life. I pray that He helps me to be faithful, and to help others recognize and use the beautiful gifts that God bestows on all of us.

GOD BLESS!

I believe my gift is letting Him shine through me, even in the dark places, hard times, in the midst of deep sadness. Encourager. Pointing out the God stops to others...that was God moving, speaking. Helping others "get" the Word.
Love ya...thought provoking post indeed sister!

A beautiful post. We all have a gift. I have a kind heart, or so I have been told, so I try to pass it on. I am not a wealthy person financially, but if anyone needs a bible and tells me I find a way to get one to them. I think knowing Our Lord through His words makes a difference in the lives of those who otherwise would be hopeless. Blessings, Anne

I am grateful for the gift of writing, of making music, of creating things with my hands. God is a generous giver of gifts.
