Thankful Thursday - Stories

“In life, finding a voice is speaking and living the truth. Each of us is an original. Each of us has a distinctive voice. When we find it, our stories will be told and we will be heard.”  John Grisham

Finding our voice - speaking up, telling our stories, being heard - powerful stuff.

For me, being heard means being validated. And in some way gives credence to the things that happened. I found out too, when we have our voice and tell our stories, it unites people. It binds them together in a special way and frees others to have their voices too.

I used to be so afraid to speak up, so afraid to tell the things that happened and afraid to live my truth. I had no voice. Now anymore. Now I've learned that owning my truth, telling my story, has given others courage to tell theirs. I love that b/c we all have a story. We all need to be heard. Grateful for....

-truth that trumps everything else.
-life that gives back again and again and again.
-the bonds I have with people which came from telling my story and also from listening to theirs.
-freedom - telling the truth of my life has been an incredibly freeing experience.
-faith - the thing that gave me the courage to stand up and be heard.

Have an amazing Thursday, Guys!!!!!

Owning our truth. That's hard sometimes, isn't it? But, God doesn't waste anything. And our stories are important tools when claimed and yielded to Him. (I'm thinking of Paul - what a story of redemption he was able to tell!!)

Our story, His glory.

That's what it's all about!

GOD BLESS!

This is so true. We all have a story to tell, and no one can tell it from our perspective except us! Have a great weekend, Nikki!

Nikki... you are so right that telling your story gives you freedom... and then the courage to share which give people the help to change... a great circle ;)

I'm reminded again of the words of Anne Lamott: "If you are no longer wracked or in bondage to a person or a way of life, tell your story. Risk freeing someone else."

I think sharing our stories with others is one of the most important things we can do. It helps others so much to know they aren't alone in the things they are going through.
