Thankful Thursday - Brave

“Sometimes brave is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of every day, the slow walk toward a better life. That is the sort of bravery I must have now.” Veronica Roth

Brave - I always believed I was a whimp, a chicken. When people told me I was brave, I didn't know why they'd say that b/c I didn't feel brave at all.

In my mind, brave was definitely not who I was. I was more of a runner, someone trying to hide from the world with all its pain and hurt. But one day I realized those people who said I was brave were right. I discovered....

Brave is holding on when it seems like there's no reason to.
Brave is getting angry and fighting back.
Brave is staying in the game until you win.
Brave is never giving up or giving in to defeat.  I'm grateful that....

-He's always there.....on those high mountains, the scary dips, the sharp curves, the rocky paths.
-His whisper, a constant in my heart, encouraging, motivating, - 'you're not alone. I'm here. Keep going.'
-Knowing that I can do anything, be anything, try anything b/c His brave lives in me and His brave has become my brave.

Happy Thursday, Guys!!!!

Nikki... you are brave... I sometimes think I'm not brave but what you wrote is true... bravery is holding on when there isn't a reason you could see...it's tough to be brave...

John Wayne had this great quote: "Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway."

I used to think that I wasn't brave, which I then translated into the belief that I wasn't faithful. But, I now truly believe that being faithful doesn't necessarily mean being fearless - it just means sticking with God even when, and maybe especially when, you're most afraid.

You have said the same sort of thing today. And I am grateful to be reminded of it!!

GOD BLESS!

You're so right about the brave thing, Nikki! And with Him beside us, how can we go wrong? We can't lose! Even when we mess up He can turn that mess into a message. We are blessed!

Hugs,
Sandi

Nikki,
This is an awesome post, thank you for reminding us that we must give ourselves more credit for making it through the day to day, that it is an act of great courage sometimes, just to get up in the morning, and that we need to recognize the fact that we are truly brave and courageous in our daily lives even if no one but God and ourselves notice.
This post came at a time when I needed it the most, thank you so much.
Keep on keeping on!
Cynthia
