Thankful Thursday

“What I want is so simple I almost can't say it: elementary kindness.” Barbara Kingsolver,

It think it's what everyone wants....the lady at the grocery store, the man walking in the park, the teen holed up in his room....

Everyone wants to feel the touch of kindness. Sometimes it's hard to know it....Sometimes people act edgy, resistant....even offended.....but kindness is the thing that eventually always gets through and makes things right. This week grateful for.....

-the woman who graciously allowed me to take photos of her backyard. Her smiles and kindness made my day!
-friends who offered to be an extra set of eyes on my manuscript.
-the people everyday who smile and take time to chat.
-my computer....I had to use microfiche yesterday. Made me really grateful for my computer. Microfiche are awkward and totally ancient. Computers are fast and easy. One hit...Babam! Whatever I need is right there at my fingertips.
-mostly....the kindness He shows me everyday in big ways and small.....the best....a blueheron flying right past me or something happening before I have much time to think that I even want it. Tangible signs He really cares.

Happy Thursday, Guys.

I have often thought that kindness is a big missing ingredient in our culture these days. It seems like no one takes the time to do something for someone else very often.

What happened to all the nice people???

Well, I know where one is - right here, on this blog, in the person of YOU!

GOD BLESS!

Great post, Nikki, While my husband was reading aloud Proverbs 31 about the virtuous woman this morning, one of the verses that stuck out to me was that "the law of kindness was in her tongue". I may not have quoted that exactly, but that's what I pray for myself!

More kindness is needed. It makes such a difference. I too am thankful for computers. They also make a big difference, but in a different way! Wishing for much kindness to come your way.

It's funny how sometimes the simplest things are the very things that most everyone is able to do, and should do to make another's day better, yet they don't...like holding a door open, or looking into someone's face when they are speaking to you, and smiling once in awhile!
I heard one of the DJ's on a radio station just today comment on how nobody says "your welcome" after someone says "Thank you" anymore.

Kindness and common courtesy is quickly becoming a lost art as many people are too busy thinking only of themselves to take a moment and consider how they might be able to just smile or compliment someone else without expecting to get something back from that person (although often a returned smile will come, and it can improve everyone's mood.)
~God bless~ Lisa

It's wonderful when we become aware of the greatness that surround us. Sometimes it takes us a while to realize it.
