Thankful Thursday

“Try and fail, but don't fail to try.” Stephen Kaggwa

Trying for something...I think takes humungo courage.

My daughter's been worried about final exams. She wants to do well but is afraid she's won't cut the grade she wants.

I told her not to worry....to just do her best. Some kids dropped the course....She's hung in. I think that says a lot about her. No matter what....I'm proud of her.

And for me...I know as long as I take a risk....try for something....it's what counts. I don't want to just think about doing things....or wish for them.....I want to try and make them happen.  If I've bombed......at least I've tried. Grateful this week for....

-Blueherons. They're my absolute favorite bird. Last night one flew right in front me. Took my breath away.
-Nature....just love being outside....in the woods...on the trails....
-Trips...getting excited....planning summer stuff and road trips to favorite places.
-Mornings.....waking up early when everyone's still sleeping.
-Mostly for the incredible feeling in my gut that never goes away...a total gratitude for life.....and gratitude I'm part of it. I remember when life held no meaning....no hope....no reason for my being. His touch....the touch of His gentleness made all the difference. I want everyone to feel the way I do....to feel the joy and hope and peace I have now.

Tell your daughter, that is COURAGE... to not let fear overcome her and worries...Pass or fail, it would mean only one thing...that she also took a leap of faith. Pass or fail, this would be something she wouldn't regret knowing that she did try even if she didn't know the outcome. My son said the same thing before he took all his AP exams that Physics was hard and he hasn't heard anyone passing. I told him not to worry because he wouldn't lose anything no matter what the result would be. At least he tried. Than not. I pray for God's blessings over your daughters, our children...that they may continue to bring His light wherever God places them. Thank you for the " holler"... it meant a lot! God bless and STAY STRONG...

This is a subject I've wrestled with - the idea of trying. God's clear admonishment about not giving up. Taking a risk. Trusting Him.

Kudos to your daughter, and to you for encouraging that determination in her.

Blessings!

Hi Nikki,
Your daughter is to be commended for her courage but then, it doesn't really surprise me that she is made of strong stuff. Because her mom is!
I've been on a blog break with my boys being home. But I'm back now and trying to play catch-up. I knew I would receive some inspiration from my visit here.:) Enjoy your weekend, my friend.

Blessings,
Sandi

Lovely post! So true, if we try and fail, at least we know we gave it our all. Great photo and I enjoyed your list of things to be thankful for. I hope you have a good weekend!

Love seeing nature, too. I was driving down the road and saw a big turtle just moving across the road. I live in the city so we don't see nature too much. Then I saw some little baby ducks taking bath with Mama watching. Gave me hope. Take care my sweet friend. :)
Hugs,
Tammy

The incredible feeling never goes away! "His touch....the touch of His gentleness made all the difference."

That's why He came, died and rose again...that we might live a different life with HIM.

My mama's favorite poem was 'The Touch of the Master's Hand. Her daddy played the violin. She recited it time after time in every church daddy pastored. She recited it with that southern drawl...my sister read it at her funeral. It speaks of the change that happens...by the touch of the master's hand. Reminds me of you :) You can see it here on youtube:

These are the lyrics:

The Touch of the Masters Hand

Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer thought it scarcely worth his while to waste much time on the old violin,
but held it up with a smile;

"What am I bidden, good folks," he cried, "Who'll start the bidding for me?" "A dollar, a dollar"; then two!" "Only two? Two dollars, and who'll make it three? Three dollars, once; three dollars twice; going for three..

" But no, from the room, far back, a gray-haired man came forward and picked up the bow; Then, wiping the dust from the old violin, and tightening the loose strings, he played a melody
pure and sweet as caroling angel sings.

The music ceased, and the auctioneer, with a voice that was quiet and low, said;

"What am I bid for the old violin?" And he held it up with the bow.

A thousand dollars, and who'll make it two? Two thousand! And who'll make it three? Three thousand, once, three thousand, twice, and going and gone," said he.

The people cheered, but some of them cried, "We do not quite understand what changed its worth."

Swift came the reply:

"The touch
of a master's hand."

And many a man with life out of tune, and battered and scarred with sin, Is auctioned cheap to the thoughtless crowd, much like the old violin, A "mess of pottage," a glass of wine; a game - and he travels on. "He is
going" once, and "going twice, He's going and almost gone."

But the Master comes, and the foolish crowd never can quite understand the worth of a soul
and the change that's wrought by the touch of the Master's hand.
