Dreamer

Linking with Charlotte at  Spiritual Sunday and Laura at  Faith Filled Friday

"I believe that the most important single thing, beyond discipline and creativity is daring to dare." Maya Angelou

My friend and I had a talk this week....about courage and fear...about listening to our heart and hearing back that quiet whisper.

It's what pushes me to act....to step out....to move in the direction of that tug inside...
Everything in me gets geared. I'm ready to go....to move out...to step forward...

And then something happens that stops me in my tracks. FEAR.  A big huge ball of fear. It gets inside and shadows the dream and takes over any hope of taking that step....

And it often comes from others shaking their heads and saying....There's no way you can do that. It won't work. It's crazy to even think of doing something like that. No one will care. You'll fall before you begin. Don't do it!!!

Fear has a way of sneaking under my skin until the dreams I had...the thing that made me feel so alive....wilts.

But nothing else ignites my life as much as doing what burns within. So today....I make a choice.....to live my passion and

Go light my world

Fear is a master at holding people back.

I love that you are making the choice to live your passion today. Resist that fear. Don't listen to it.

Go light your world.

Yes!

Hi Sarah!
Great! I'm glad you're stepping out of the fear zone into the faith stone. And yes, it can be a giant step, can't it? But it is so freeing to get the fear monkey off our backs! If we could just recognize him sooner and begin putting on our spiritual warfare clothing more quickly!

Oh that lie of the enemy..fear!! Can't he play a new card? I think when we become creative he shakes...because we were created by the creator...and in us holds new creation....you go girl, and stomp on the enemy as you create and step out

Nikki, much of my life has been lived doing what burns within. Even though occasionally I got burnt without--I would not trade one hour of the risks, the (what others might call) foolish behaviors.

I have a feeling you too, are loving life being lived now, before now, and to however the future shall bring it.

Thanks for a thoughtful post, one which I could not refuse comment--because it is again like looking into that mirror.
PEACE!

Nikki, you've ID'd the enemy and thrust olde Fear right out in the sunlight ... pretty pathetic looking, isn't he?
I'm SO proud of you for not falling prey to him!
(... Wish I could say the same for myself; but you give me hope!)

Great post! I think we all need to give ourselves a pep talk every now and again to help us get past our fears of doing what we dream about. I hope you have a nice Sunday! :)

Fear-- a topic that we all know. I appreciated your thoughts.

I have just started to read Unseduced and Unshaken by Dr. Rosalie de Rosset. The opening chapter focuses on Jane Eyre and the way that this character was true to her heart.

Thank-you for sharing.

I've always loved that song. And also love how you always push through the barriers and keep moving forward. xo

Fear can still have too much of a hold on me, too. :-( I don't want it to be that way. But yes, finding our passion in Jesus does inspire us to press on despite our fear. Thanks, Nikki!

The enemy uses fear because he knows we are all very vulnerable that way...fear truly is the opposite of faith...it is the one thing that can keep us from doing what God calls us to do...and that is the enemy's objective.
You stay strong, and remember it is a daily task to be deliberate in setting our minds to have faith in God, and that is the key to overcoming the enemy's strategy.

powerful song, isn't it? I believe it was You who first introduced me to it... on an earlier post. I was so empowered by it that I placed in on my blog page...words written in bold. There is a passion ignited when I hear it. You must feel the same!

I too grapple with fear. It blocks us from moving forward. It is definitely an enemy spirit...for God did not give us a spirit of fear. I combat it with my shield of FAITH. Faith is the water that douses the enemy's flaming arrows...and enables me to go light my world with His love....even though fear nags at me from the sidelines. Faith empowers me to keeping right on walking.

So I would say to you today....just keep on walking...it will be OK.

I have great faith in you and the ONE who walks beside you. So GO... Go LIGHT YOUR WORLD. There is a brother ...a sister... that holds a candle without a flame! It is to these, that He was sent. He sends us to spread His FLAME... it only takes a spark to get a fire going. Never give up HOPE! Someone's LIFE depends on us walking out our faith in front of them.

Just know...I'm walking with you too.

Thanks for the empowerment...again :)

Hi Sarah,

I have learned that I must never let the words “I can never do that”, or “I will never be able to handle this” come out of my mouth. I know I should never say never when it comes to what God can do. We all have the spiritual assurance to live free of fear; there is no “Never” that God can’t break through! :)

Lovely post!
