“A criminal isn't always a thug in a
black leather jacket with a big brand on his forehead to warn us away.
Criminals sit next to us on the bus. They pack our groceries and cash our paychecks for us and teach our children. They look no different from
you or me. And that's why they get away with it.”
Jodi Picoult
They look and sound like everyday people - familiar....normal....people like everyone else.
But they're not - they're liars...deceivers...con men. They live where we live...in our world...in our community...some even in our families. They take what doesn't belong to them. They manipulate and speak lies that sound so much like truth....half truths. They're everywhere...living in our midst...spouting their lies....capturing the unsuspecting.
I've learned in the past few months not to trust so easily or simply accept someone's words as real. I've learned the importance of taking a step back...weighing what's said and watching how a person lives to make sure they're legit.
Something else I've learned...even when we've been taken in...conned...lied to....He uses it and turns it around and brings good from evil.
I don't tell you about freedom and truth and a God who loves you......

I do hate that you were hurt by someone you knew and that it has caused you to be more careful again.
I wish the world was just free and we could be open and honest.
But alas the devil is here.
So we do have to be careful.
Love and hugs.

So awesome and exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank-you.
I just love the fact that the Lord does turn everything into "good"...I'm grateful we have His Word to guide us and protect us against those lies and deceptions. Blessings to you sister and praying for a resolve in your case. And mine! :) Even without...I'm contented no matter what result knowing the Lord is good. All the time.
Yes, I've been hurt by those I thought were kind and gentle... only to find out they were wolves in sheep's clothing. It teaches me not to put my confidence in man or princes but be grateful that the Lord will never disappoint.
So thankful that God takes everything and works it out for good. Trusting people and having them betray us is difficult, but we can always trust God and depend on Him. Praise God!
I absolutely love the photo!! I guess for me it boils down to the heart intention. I always wonder...have I done that? Did I speak a half truth? My heart's intent would never be to purposefully deceive or hurt. I am sorry if you fell prey to one who did. I am thankful for His promises during those times.
Hi Sarah,
Jesus said the tares will be among the wheat.

It's tough to tell one from another - Lord we ask for discernment!
Wow ... great post, Nikki.
By nature (and experience) I'm reluctant to trust ... but sometimes that feels like 'shutting out.'
I think it's not humanly possible to always discern evil ... but God is always there to put the pieces back together.
It is difficult to know who we can trust sometimes. At least we know we can always trust in God. Nice post!
there is evil in the world, but more powerful is God.
Sorry for your hurt,I will pray for you. Love the video!
So true that sometimes when we are hurt by someone, we may be more careful and cautious on who to trust. Even I fall into that sometimes and I will feel that I have placed a wall against people because of my past experiences. It's really important to discern if people are telling the truth or lies... I'm so thankful that I can always trust Jesus! God bless ya Nikki! :D
This is so true. The picture illustrates it perfectly. I'm always blessed by the things you share.
Blessings,
Charlotte
