Perspective

Linking up with Charlotte at  Spiritual Sunday & Laura at Faith Filled Friday

“If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden.” Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden

My oldest and I were out in the  woods... laughing...goofing around...completely relaxed. All of a sudden two snakes slithered out in front of us. I screamed and jumped back. My dgt cracked up laughing. "They're just tiny ones."
"Tiny? What Tiny? Those things are huge!"
She started snapping pictures while I ran ahead now totally aware of snakes lurking everywhere. All I wanted to do was get out of there.

Later...she showed me the pics on her computer. Funny thing about those snakes....they actually looked amazing...their colours and lines and form. It made me think that sometimes my fear is way out of line with the danger.

Perspective! Those snakes really couldn't hurt me. So why was I so afraid? And there are things in my life that have made me really afraid...yet now with Him in my corner...why should I ever be afraid? Someone once told me that faith is the opposite of fear. That's the perspective I want...Faith not fear.

How can I say there is not God when all around creation calls... .

Perspective is such a cool thing for this Psych major who loves analyzing people. Really, it fascinates me how we can all look at the same thing, same situation, yet tell a different story. love it. And yes, I'm all about faith over fear evcery time!!

Faith not fear - love it and it's so true! Truth be told, I'm not a big fan of snakes either, and even less of bats - Eww!

Yes, I admit I have missed out on some things because of fear! Great post, but I hate snakes, too!

I've been warning inmates and co-workers from this old facility where I used to work long time ago that it is snake season now and that they should stay away from bushes and grassy areas or those holes in the ground. Not to instill fear but as a precaution to avoid any potential problem.

Fear...a tactic from our enemy to distort our mind and disable us from succeeding...I like the way you reminded us that faith is the opposite. While we can't see God, the evidence is truly around us. What He created is so awesome and everything does point back to Him. Scientists can deny all they want about God but it doesn't change the fact that their knowledge is limited. I love that song. Makes me enjoy the bright sun despite being a triple digit temp today...God bless and strengthen you.

I think I would have been high-stepping it out of the garden too (: there's a fine line between fear and wisdom. Same outcome - different motivation.

I think the other lesson learned is: know your enemy. Blessings to you xo

{shudder} I'm sure the slithering things are evil. Ha! You are right about perspective. As with other things of life, with God always changes the perspective. This was an amazing video, too. Love all the animals!

Yikes!!! I can't think of ANYthing I'm more frightened/repulsed by than a snake.
Your daughter is a wise gal! But then, YOU knew that already, didn't you? :)

Beautiful video, and a song I never heard before but yet it touched my heart. It made me think once again of heaven... there how beautiful everything will be.

We all need an eternal perspective... before we can really appreciate the true worth of something.

Thank you for this post, dear Nikki. The song is awesome.

Beautiful saying "Faith not Fear"'. Things are so much easier when we do let HIM surround us with His Light. Wishing you a Faith filled week-end..Hugs, Celia

I would be right with you running away from the snakes! Why do we do that when we should have faith and realize there's nothing to fear? Thanks for the insightful post and beautiful video!

I love that quote!

This reminds me of a walk I took with my husband. He scared the daylights out of me when he screamed...made me jump off the ground. He had seen a snake and is terrified of them. I don't particularly like snakes, but I'm not as afraid of them as he was...so I was like you nearly gave me a heart attack...lol.

That picture of the snake is really interesting..she got a good shot!

I like the analogy you used here. I like your thought on choosing faith instead of fear too. I'm still rather skittish around snakes, though. :)

So true, but oh my; I hate snakes and always run for dear life!!

How true though; what do we do with our fear? Imagine never worrying about anything! God wants us to give our burdens to Him, but too often we carry them ourselves even when we say that we are trusting in Him.

Blessings and hugs!

I love that song. It is one of my new favorites. It is so beautiful. Snakes don't bother me near as much as rodents do. It's true though, we don't really need to be afraid of anything as long as God is in our corner.
Blessings,
Charlotte
