Thankful Thursday

Linking with Cami at Thankful Thursday

“You see, you closed your eyes. That made the difference. Sometimes you can't believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. And if you're ever going to have other people trust you, you must feel that you can trust them, too--even when you’re in the dark....even when you’re falling.” Mitch Albom, (Tuesdays With Morrie)

Trust....it's not something that came easy for me. I learned to trust like I learned to walk. And I figured out that some people are charming....they sound right and good and convincing......yet they're really not.

Trust.....it's a sacred thing...
Trust....it's a safety thing
Trust....it gives me wings....and helps me fly when I don't think I can.
I'm thankful for....

-those people who taught me to trust....friends who never gave up on me....who stayed...and believed....and made a difference.
-life.....knowing that if I hold on long enough...it gives back some pretty incredible things....like amazing love and lots of inner joy.
-nature.....it's been my greatest teacher.....it's shown me that everything has balance and purpose. When I'm out in the woods, in the fields, by the lake......I feel the most at peace
-touch...the ability to touch and feel the world makes something in my heart sing....it reminds me I'm never alone.....that in some way everything that lives is connected.
-God....His touch....His love....His life....He's the spark that constantly makes all the difference in my world. .

Nikki,
Trust is such an elusive concept for me. I trust...but only to a point-and then I shut the door. While I have gotten better, it's a constant push me-pull me ideal in my life!
great post...

Trusting people has been a challenging process. I have been on both sides of the pendulum...too trusting and not trusting at all. I have been wounded when I opened myself up, but God doesn't want me to give up. I also have learned that trusting God is not like trusting man. I am so glad that He is not like man! Thanks for sharing!

We can't always shield ourselves from some who end up breaking our hearts and how hard to "trust" the next time. It's like a delicate flower that we end up enclosing behind walls to guard it. Thanks be to God because of His unconditional love, those walls can crumble down because His love is the only thing that helps this "trust" to be open again despite the risk of getting hurt, we become stronger because of Him. His love endures forever.

It is so hard for some people to trust...but we can always trust God, he always ants only the best for us!

When we've been hurt badly, it IS hard to learn to trust again. But like so many things, it is a process, isn't it?

I, too, am grateful for the people that didn't give up on me, Sarah! They modeled love and I could trust God, the most trustworthy of all!

Hi Nikki,
TRUST is something that the Lord taught me about early on. He allowed my heart to get badly wounded and made me realize that the only one I can trust completely, is HIM. That's a good thing, because it takes the onus off everyone else. Not only did I learn that no one is perfect, but I'm not either. And no matter how hard I try, I never will be until I get to heaven.
People are always going to let us down because we live in a fallen world. I have the freedom now to love people for who they are and not what I think they should be. Another great post, my friend!

Blessings,
Sandi

I'm so glad that you've learned this truth..

"I figured out that some people are charming....they sound right and good and convincing......yet they're really not."

Trust is a power-packed word full of emotion ...for most of us. I'm still working on it and I'm old :) Putting my Trust is God is easier than trusting people. He promises to never ever leave us or forsake us. Oh to be like HIM...but it is my trust in the Lord that makes my relationships work. He leads the way and He covers us from behind. He'll always be by our side through thick and thin. It's so much easier to go out on a limb...with Him.

love you, Nikki, thanks for sharing your heart.

Very moving, my friend.
I still struggle with trust ... even when my head tells me all's OK.
I'm going to ponder your mention of trust giving you wings.
THAT's positive; I love it!
