Only Hope

Linking up with Charlotte at  Spiritual Sunday & Laura at Beholding Glory & Karen at Hallelujah Anyhow

We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.”Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hope....to some it's a dangerous thing.....To others it's survival. Dangerous because the thing hoped for may never happen. Survival....because it's the thing that gives courage to keep holding on.

I know what it's like to flounder in the dark, to have no hope....but I also know what it's like to hold onto hope like a drowning person gripping onto a lifeline.

Hope is what kept me back from giving up..from letting go....from giving into the darkness. Hope was that crucial link that kept me hanging on when there wasn't anything else. And something amazing happened...the more I held onto hope...it slowly morphed into faith...a deep strong conviction....an inner knowing that what I desperately wanted.....would happen. I didn't know how....I just knew it would. I moved from thinking it might become reality to knowing that it was a definite.

And that faith eventually exploded into the miracle I needed. I learned hope transcends everything. It goes beyond all doubts....it silences fear....it quiets  despair and more than that...no one can ever take it away.

There's a song that's inside of my soul.....It sings to me over and over again.

There's a Scripture that says, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick." It's not easy (or healthy) to keep hoping for things that are never going to happen, and therein lies the delecate situation with hope. One must always hope, as long as their hope isn't misplaced. Our hope is in the Lord. He is the only One who will never leave us.

You have come to the true meaning of "hope." It is not a wish, but a settled confidence that the thing hoped for will come.

Rom 8:24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
Rom 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Oh, yes, so very true! Hope is what each and every person is searching for...and like the song says...

"When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.."

So very glad you kept holding on to that Hope, Nikki...your story has touched so many....

I like how you developed in faith. You knew something good was going to happen and you didn't let go of that. This is vital to those of us who are still waiting for our miracles. Happy Thanksgiving!

Praise God that our hope in eternal life, which begins at the moment we repent of our sins and trust in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the only way to salvation, is a sure thing! Our hope is not something that we wonder about, but something we can eagerly look forward to because it is God's promise, and He alone is absolutely trustworthy!
Thanks for the great post!

Hey Gal1 Thank you for stoopping by my blog. I enjoy doing the Sunday Bible Challenges. They keep me on my toes as far as my Bible knowledge. A lot of times people have trouble reading th3e Bible in it's entirety, but I keep "HOPING" that if people will get involved it something as small as that little quiz, that while looking up the answers to the questions it will give them a hunger to read a little further and get a hunger for more.

As far as Hope goes, without "hope" we have nothing. Even in the Bible it talks of hope, as in the definition of faith . Faith is the substance of things HOPED for, the evidence of things not seen. We have to have hope to have faith. Without faith, we cannot please God. SO, I pray for all people that they keep even a flicker of hope alive within there soul, and reach out for God. For HE can fill you with hope if you will allow Him. God Bless,
PJ

Hope and faith are always intertwined - sooner than we know it, if we keep hoping in something, it really becomes a inner reality that we can believe in!

Your experience about hope is beautiful, it is what has sustained you during your dark hours.

Thank you for sharing with us.
