Hiding Place

Linking up with Charlotte Spiritual Sunday   & Laura Beholding Glory

"I went to sleep with gum in my mouth and now there's gum in my hair and when I got out of bed this morning I tripped on the skateboard and by mistake I dropped my sweater in the sink while the water was running and I could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Some days are like that. Even in Australia” Judith Viorst

Yesterday was one of those horrible terrible no good very bad days.......a day I spent wondering what life was really all about...and why is there so much struggling....and hard stuff for so many. I moped all day.....feeling inadequate....unproductive.....blah....

At night my youngest curled up with me on the couch. I held her close.....looked in her big brown eyes.....and saw her love....and her trust knowing I'm there for her and always will be.  That snapped me back to that place of knowing.....that some days are just yuck.....but I've figured out Who to run to....where I can hide.....and curl up with love and trust in my 'eyes.' I know He's there.....when I feel Him.....and even when I don't. He's running with me.....when things are amazingly awesome.....and even when they're not.

He is my hiding place. I will trust in Him.....

"..that some days are just yuck." Yes, they are. He whispers softly, "I AM". Thanks be to God!

You know what is important and as the Lord himself said "Come the little children." Children have a way of helping us through whatever life is throwing at us! I am amazed at the references to children in the New Testament! I was feeling poorly on Thanksgiving morn. Then someone said "Andrew is coming up the driveaway with the baby!" Once I laid my eyes on that beautiful baby boy I forgot what the heck I was feeling so poorly about! You are well loved Sarah(Nikki) everywhere you go!
Beautiful and thoughtful post! Blessings to you and yours Anne

I love that Alexander book. And I know how you feel. Sometimes, it's such hard work to get your mind back in line, focusing on what's real and true - on Jesus Himself.

It's an every-day battle, I think.

Bless you today, friend.

I'm so sorry you had such a rough Thanksgiving! Did you make a turkey or anything? Or just go out to eat? We all have those days, it is just human.

The day after Thanksgiving was a rough one for me. So glad we have a hiding place in Him, yes!

Thank God that He helps us snap out of those gray days!

I thought of you when I did my last Rock4Today blog. Your bravery was an incentive for me to go ahead and do that post. Thank you for being willing to share your heart!

Blessings,
Esther Joy

He is really my hiding place as well, dear Nikki... I am so glad that your bad day turned out to be a good one after all. But yes, you are so right, there are days like that when things go wrong one after the other. He is there, even when we don't feel Him.

I love the honest way that you pour out your heart!

Love
Lidia

I have a little card on top of our phone here in front of our computer that had the verse from Psalm 46:1 I wrote to remind me everyday Who shields me from my daily battles.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble."

It changes my perspective all day knowing He is beside us as we go through these trials...He is quick to save and that His promises are true. He is the only reason I'm not afraid. I don't know what I'd do without Him. Remain strong sister. God bless.

Hi Nikki,
We all have days like that. So glad we have a place to run to when things get rough. It's nice to know He's there in the good times and the bad! "He is my Hiding Place". Thanks for sharing and I hope you're having a very good day today.

Blessings and hugs,

So good to know that we are never alone... even on the yuckiest of days. We can "hide" in Him. I know of no better place than the shelter of His wings.

I love reading your life lessons and being reminded that God never leaves us . . . and that we all have bad days that sometimes seem they'll never end . . and that although we each have different stories, we're all included in HIS story. And I'm so thankful we know how that story ends!!

Clif told this story in sermons a few times through the years. People always enjoyed it. Some days are like that even in Australia. lol
There is nothing like the love of a child to bring us back to reality. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Blessings,
Charlotte

You are quoting one of my favorite books. I bought it one year for one of my kids that felt the whole world was after him.
Don't we all have those days...so glad God allows some breaks from those days

Now as he said.."I am going to move to Australia"...or what I would say, "I am going to move to a farm"

Hugs...
