Thankful Thursday

“It's been my experience that you can nearly always enjoy things if you make up your mind firmly that you will.”  L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

It's been very autumnish....rainy, windy, chilly. Driving along the winding roads near our home I can't stop staring at the the trees in the hills. They're totally breath-taking and pure eye candy. It's strange to think that just a month ago they were all green. I absolutely love this time of year. And am thankful for.....

-the coziness of snuggling with my family on the couch, eating sunflower seeds and watching movies like The Ulitmate Gift that makes us cry our hearts out and then whoop and cheer because of the happy ending.
-looking out the window and watching the coloured leaves drift down and pile everywhere. What an amazing sight and it makes me think how cyclical life is....constant endings and new beginnings. It's what I've been feeling lately....that I'm at the end of what's been and on the verge of something new and exciting. Not sure what that is....but I just feel it inside.
-spoke to a group of women this week. It was great. Everyone started crying and sharing their hearts and thanked me.....but the truth....I'm grateful for them...to witness their courage and be part of their journey of healing and recovery. And I love that in some crazy way....we're all connected to each other.
-Something else I'm really grateful for...when I go off on my own tangent....and follow along wrong trails.....and get frustrated that things aren't what I imagined....I can always come  back to Him....and know....He's there waiting. He always has my back.
-I'm grateful  that He's the door-opener for all the neat things in my world. My faith is an anchor that grounds me and a springboard into amazing adventures.

When I read someones grateful journal it thrills me - because I know they have found the secret of life - being grateful for what God has given us in spite of what we don't have. And it is not easy so I commend you. Also it reminds me of what I am grateful for I can add to mine.

Love the 'eye candy' and the movie suggestion.

Love you!

How wonderful that you can speak and touch their hearts. I would love to see some leaves of color falling off the trees.

My favorite one this week is the fact that He has your (our) back and is there when we realize we have gone off on a tangent. What a merciful and patient God we serve!

Nikki, I really loved this post. Autumn is my favorite season of the year too... yes, life is cyclical, new endings, new beginnings... unexpected twists and turns, surprise visits from God. You're so right, when we go off on a wrong turn, He always welcomes us back. I like the way you said that. He's the door opener, and faith is our anchor.

Really timely post, dear friend.

I love this season! Love the crispness in the air. Smells of apples. Yes, there are lots to be thankful for. Starting with the littlest things. Sometimes, those are just what we need, don't we? God bless you sister.

Hi Sarah(Nikki,
I feel the same way. When I share in others pain I feel so connected. I encourage them and they encourage me, too. So happy God placed you in my life. :)

Blessings,
Tammy
