Thankful Thursday

"Don't underestimate the value of Doing Nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can't hear, and not bothering" Winnie the Pooh

Not everyday is the best. Like yesterday. It was one of those yuck ones....the kind that I didn't feel like doing anything.. I even skipped some things I know I shouldn't have. But by supper time, I was grateful that I had spent it 'doing nothing.'  I used to think....it wasn't okay to chill.....to take a day off....and do nothing....but sometimes that's exactly what I need. I'm thankful for.....

-record breaking temps..they hit in the mid 80's....perfect for being laid back and relaxing....
-hiking in my favorite place.....the hills near where we used to live.....and hiked everyday. I still know every path, every dip, every trail..It felt like coming home.
-Our home that's comfortable....safe.....a retreat full of neat creature comforts.....I always think of those people who have no home....or live in homes with so much angst....
-Fall season....one of my favorites. I love the cozy feel.....the crunch of leaves under my feet....and brilliant coloured leaves....total eye candy....
-Mostly...I'm soo soo grateful for Him loving me....even when I'm not at my best. I'm still amazed that when I feel like giving up.....He hangs in with me.....never lets go....never gives up. When I feel yuck....He's there....always encouraging.....always supportive....always patient.

I'm having one of those days today where I might do nothing and try not to feel guilty about it:) Glad you are doing so well!

Weird weather. Today, we're having another triple digit. So easy to whine but your grateful heart reminded me to always be thankful for His blessings, starting from the littlest ones. Blessings to you sister.

I enjoy days that I can just set aside for relaxation.
Our weather is perfect today, not too hot or too cold. Just perfect!

Happy Thursday...

Yes, God is the God of even the *yuck.* I'm so glad for that.

His presence warms me on those not-so-perfect days. And I am reminded to praise Him even when my heart is not shining...

GOD BLESS!

We all need to have down times every day. We have been doing way too much, as well. It has gotten bad when you have no food in the house because you haven't had time to get to the grocery store in four days! But we have gotten a reminder to slow down and are working on it. God tells us to be still, in that way we can experience him more.

I remember as a child spending long afternoons ouside "doing nothing." Lying in the grass, making clover chains, watching the clouds, climbing a tree. I hardly ever think to just be still anymore, unless I'm at my mountain cabin, where I might just sit by the creek watching the shadows. Beautiful post.

Just found your blog from "The joy of Denim and lace"

I really appreciate this as I was supposed to do a few things today and due to the emotional situation we are going through with our cat dying from cancer, I needed to read it was ok to chill!

Nice to meet you I am Joyce

We have been extremely warm. Not at all Fall weather. I am thankful for loving Him too.

Taking the time to rest and reflect is always a good thing. I've done some of that myself this week.

You certainly have many wonderful things to be thankful for. Wish I could have joined you on that hike though. I simply LOVE nature trails. :)

Hi Sarah,

Love your post! It's rare that I get to do nothing. Oh but when the opportunity comes, it's oh so good. It actually feels unnatural like I should be doing something. That's how I felt last Sunday when my husband and I picnicked in the park. It was great. Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings,
Judy

I agree with you - sometimes when we start feeling down - not all the time - but we we start to think of all we have - it just makes you feel better.

Sometimes, "yuck" is just the best word you can think of to describe it. I know the yuck feeling, and I love Him so for loving me through my yuck days.

I think there is a great pleasure in taking a day to do nothing, and I love that quote by my old friend Pooh.

I've been feeling yuck, so I'm just going to do what you've said. Okay? I think I'll be better because I trust your judgment.
