Sidetracked

Linking up with Charlotte at Spiritual Sunday  & Laura at Beholding Glory

"I encourage everyone to become their dream. Most people become sidetracked and never end up doing what they really set out to do." James De La Vega

Earlier this week I found myself sidetracked...sliding off the path I had been on.....and heading in an entirely different direction.

It started when I met someone who made a suggestion...and for some reason I ran with it. It sounded good. Right. At least while we were talking about it. But when I left to go home.....I became discouraged. Hopeless. I didn't really want to do what she had said. It didn't feel right.

Two days later.....I met with someone....someone who'se been in my corner....who knows my story......and believes in me. As soon as I saw her, she turned and said the very thing I needed to hear.  She had no idea of the other person's suggestion. She spoke her words with passion. And they hit their mark. Smack dab in the core of my heart.

I needed her words to get me back onto the right track. They gave me hope. Reminded me He has a plan. A purpose. And even when we get sidetracked...He's there. Waiting. Knowing we'll be back.

This becoming is harder than it seems.....

Sometimes we need to hear the same thing a few times to realize it has value or meaning. When others say it with genuine passion and support of us ... our heart really hears it... many blessings to you... wishing you a wonderful week -end..xo HHL

There is a book called God Winks - and that is what I call this. Sometimes we get an answer from God via a friend, a call, a blog, and email - something like that and I think you got one of them this week.

Doesn't God work in wonderful ways? Sending us someone for a particular thing just at the time we need it. So did you give up what the friend suggested? I am kind of like this. I will get really excited about new projects or doing things for church, and will agree on the spot. Then later, after I have thought about it, I know it is something I probably can't do, but my excitement gets me carried away. I have at least two jobs at church now that I am good at, and need to stick to these, but people keep asking about other things.

God bless your True Friend's intervention. I believe there are no accidental encounters.

That still small voice, confirmed by a dear friend, helps direct us on the right path (or track!) Blessings to you, Sarah!

You have had two confirmations from friends. I hope you listen to your heart and do what you want to do.

I get mad crazy ideas only to realize that I can't do it alone.

Have faith that God isn't finished with you yet.

In His Name,
Pam

Glad you had the second friend who helped you get back on track. Sometimes ideas that sound good out of someone else's mouth don't always feel that way when we get home.

Hi Sarah,
If it doesn't seem right to you, and you don't have a peace about it, then you know it probably isn't God's will for you. Another's confirmation really helps to put things into perspective.
I know you've probably never heard of Evie Tournquist who was a Christian singer back in the 70's and 80's. {I always loved her singing.} Anyway, she once said that whenever someone told her that the Lord told them to tell her that she should do something in particular, she would always ask, '"Well, how come the Lord didn't tell me?"' I've almost always used that as a guide. Almost always, the Lord will speak to you too.
Thanks for sharing and have a lovely Sunday.

Blessings,
Sandi

I know about getting side-tracked. Seems to happen quite often in my life.

In September, I wrote a blog post with the same title. My *sidetrack* was my husband's broken ankle. Sometimes the *sidetracks* are part of God's plan, and sometimes they're not. No wonder we need the Holy Spirit's guidance, and the good and wise counsel of God's Word, and the sound advice of friends.

God works in many ways to confirm His leading. And no matter where we are, He can get us back and keep us on the right track!

GOD BLESS!

I am glad that you recognize side-tracked when you see it...

Isn't that the most amazing thing when it happens! You have a word from God delivered through another person and they don't even know it.
Have a blessed week,
Gayle

I know that's why we need to listen to that voice inside of us--He leads us if we listen. Glad you did! It is always so nice to hear from you. Wish you lived nearby!

Great post and reminder.

For me, my side tracks can come THROUGH the suggestions themselves, if that makes sense. I often have trouble telling if they are designed to spark me or distract me from His calling. That may not make sense, but that's what happens to me. Then, I get all spiritually confused. I think my greatest weakness is the inability to discern HIS still small voice from the wokwokwok.

I'm glad God sent you your own personal still small voice to keep you on track.

And btw, I really, really thank you for your sweet email about my Chocolate Chip post.
