The Bridge

Linking up with Charlotte at Spiritual Sunday & Laura at Beholding Glory

“Better that one heart be broken a thousand times in the retelling if it means that a thousand other hearts need not be broken at all.” Elie Wiesel

Sometimes....I want to stop telling my story....stop sharing what happened.....and speaking about the time I lived in darkness....believing it would never get better....and that I would die in all that bleak emptiness...

But then I stand up....and tell....I share what I lived.....how things got so dark.  Then.....I get to say the best.....how I survived.....

Everytime I tell.....I know that I'll never stop telling.....I will live forever speaking my story....forever sharing....the hope He gave....the difference He made.....

It doesn't matter how uncomfortable or scary it feels anymore.....I don't want anyone to ever give up....to ever lose their fight....to die without hope.

So I'll tell and keep telling what He did....how He broke the chains that kept me living on the edge. And now He's in me....the hope....and the assurance... that nothing's impossible to overcome......
When you're down and out...I will comfort you....like a bridge over troubled water....

Your testimony shines His light into a dark world that needs hope. You are a living, breathing testimony of His Love. Thank for always fanning my candle flame when the enemy is trying to throw water on it through various trials and circumstances. :)

Hugs,
Tammy

thanks for visiting my blog (Fear of the Lord) and your kind comment. Although it is difficult to relive your story and share it with others, it is also freeing if you can help people along the way come to know the peace, love and hope of Jesus! He will give you that strength too to continue to tell your story of his redemption in your life.

I hope it is a good day for you!

I love the quote at the beginning, "Better that one heart be broken a thousand times in the retelling if it means that a thousand other hearts need not be broken at all." - Imagine the power, the impact, all of the hearts not breaking because your sharing. I believe God gave us all testimonies for a reason. Not to be bottled up, but to be shared (as hard as it may be) so that we can help others. Love that you are sharing! Praising God for broken chains.

I'm guessing it would be so difficult to have to retell your story over and over. But I'm glad it has such a hopeful ending to make it easier to share. You are brave; you are strong. Thank you for believing in Him, Nikki!

I can imagine that after starting to tell it for the umteenth time, it would get monotonous and depressing, but maybe afterward, you have a great reward? All the people coming up to you and the encouragement? It seems this is your calling...

Imagine all the times you've told it and those it has spoken to. What a ministry you have! When times get rough I'm so thankful God is there -- and you have proven it!

Blessings,
Pamela

Nikki, this is my all time favorite song, especially the version by Simon and Garfunkel. I didn't know Michael Smith sang it too.

Share your story... you never know how many countless people will receive healing because of it.

You are a light in this dark world. I sometimes got to thinkin' that if only that you lived to tell the story, and especially how you survived it and moved on to get your healing is the way God is redeeming your dark past!

I am so thankful to God that He has led you and given you the strength to do what you are doing. What a grand defeat for the enemy's evil schemes!

Love always,
Lidia

That is one of the songs I listen to by Jim Nabors when I can't sleep at night. Jesus is our light, thank you for revealing that in your testimony.

I pondered on that quote for a while. How true and a sacrificial kind to happen in one's life. To have your heart be broken in order to save others' hearts. Like what the Lord had done.

It's not easy to have your heart be broken but I'm glad for the healing and transforming power He has for broken-hearted people. His power and light that shines through. Like yours. Blessings.

One of the profound truths we heard at the conference this weekend was that our testimony is a sermon in itself and one people listen to. I'm so proud of you, Sarah.

God bless you for telling your story. You may never know how many lives you touched and helped. The first quote certainly is appropriate for this post. I'm so glad you share with us on Spiritual Sundays each week. I know you have touched many lives just through sharing there.
Blessings,
Charlotte

Hi Sarah,
I was away on the weekend and wondered what you had shared. Thank you for stopping by and leaving your sweet comment. I always feel like you're in my corner. Bless you!
I can't tell you what a blessing it is to come here this morning and read your post and listen to Michael's version of this powerful song. He is one of my favourite Christian artists. My son who lives in BC goes to hear Michael everytime he comes to BC for a concert.
Thank you once again for ministering to others through your writing. You are an inspiration to all of us.

Blessings and hugs,
Sandi

I love that song, Nikki. And I have always personalized that song "Bridge Over Troubled Water" to be a message directly from God to me. What a promise, that the Lord will never, ever leave us.

I am so glad that you have the courage to tell your story - even through the pain - because it ministers to so many of us. You show us that God's Bridge is built with bricks of hope.

GOD BLESS!

Telling my story chokes me and makes me cry in public. I'm reminded of you each time I tell about me though. You've brave, hun. I almost shut down instead of telling, like it's my fault rather than my victory. This post was meant for me to read today. Nikki, I salute to you. Thank you.
