Thankful Thursday

Linking up with Dayle at Simple Pleasures

We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. Cynthia Ozick

The week has been wild...with wierd weather that's gone from one extreme to another. Watching the news...seeing how others in different countries and parts of the country have been so terribly affected....I'm grateful for....

-being safe in the middle of crazy weather.  There's been a couple of wild storms this week. In one....we were out driving. The torrential rains got so bad we could barely see. Street lights went out, huge trees fell....and the lightening was the worst we'd ever seen. Another storm woke us up in the middle of the night. It set off our fire alarm and the winds got so bad.....it felt like the roof would blow off.
-A/C. Temps hit in the high 90's. I thought about people living in poorer countries....people who have no a/c and and who live with extreme temps so much of  the time.
-flashlights, cell-phones...ipad...crank radios....all those things that gave us a sense of comfort and helped us feel connected to others in the storm.
-The two tornados that touched down only damaged property. No one was hurt.
-Faith.....knowing He's in charge of all the winds and storms. At one point my dgt. started to softly say....'when I am afraid...I'll trust in You.' Hearing her voice...and those words reminded me in the middle of everything....no matter how bad things get...His peace still rules.

Weather has been wild and crazy in places where there is usually calm. Much to be grateful for always! Best wishes, Tammy

We are expecting storms this afternoon but then it's going to cool down. That will be nice because it's in the high 90s right now.

Standing with a big AMEN to this one, Sarah. I am deathly afraid of storms. When I am safe from the worst of it, and I feel His presence in the midst of it, I can't describe the gratitude that I feel.

And I'm grateful that you're safe too!

Yes! This weather gives us a lot more to be thankful for! For air conditioning, and for being safe in the tornadoes as well!!

The weather does remind me of all that you listed! Those poor countries, roof blowing off, etc. Glad that you were safe this week...

goodness, life has been crazy, hasn't it? The world seems so angry and the weather is a great representation of that sentiment.
Glad you are safe...

i, too, am grateful for my a/c and the assurance that if we get the predicted storms in the next couple of days that God is "large and in-charge" (lol)... but, i'm also grateful for God in another journey in my life that goes from sunny days to terrifying storms, sometimes in the span of 1 minute! love your post; it is very centering ;O) {hugs} ~ t

Hi Sarah,
You're right, the world's weather is a bit strange at the moment. But,if we believe God has a plan, then we can relax and ride it through.
Glad your a/c is working.

Sarah, I find the power of a severe storm to be quite terrifying!
But my hubby and sons find it entertaining and like to be out in it :-(
I actually dreamed of a tornado 3 nights ago, even though where I live in Australia we don't get them.
Reading my blogging friends accounts of near misses and tragedy, has brought the reality of these weather events closer to home for me.
I pray for you all to be protected and covered by the wings of our heavenly Father!!
And for His peace to reign in all circumstances!
blessings..Trish

Yes, it is in the midst of the storms that we trust the Father to keep us. The inner storms are in his hands too. Thanks for encouraging me to keep on trusting. Mave
