Thankful Thursday

Linking up with Dayle for Simple Pleasures

Health is not valued till sickness comes.-Thomas Fuller

Being sick is no fun. Last week and even on the weekend I was really sick. First the flu....the Norwalk...it's a brutal kind of flu.....then kidney stones and then.....a pulled muscle in my arm. It's been a week of realizing how fragile we really are....and how little control we have over most things.  Being so sick and getting better pretty quickly reminded me of how grateful I am because....

-I have today....and today I'm healthy and everything I need I have - food, water, shelter, love.
-The sick stuff I got hit with didn't last long - unlike those who are hit with kidney failure, MS, cancer, and so many other debilitating things.
-my family loves me and they show it in tangible ways. They completely took over and did whatever had to be done in and around the house including taking gentle care of me.
-friends who found out and made themselves available for me and my family.
-My body - In the past I felt separate from it. Now I appreciate that He made us amazing....our bodies are awesome and do so much for us.

Being sick is not easy...living with a chronic illness takes perseverance and a great deal of surrender.

Praising Him for making you feel better.

You share some wonderful blessings for which to be grateful. Glad to hear you are on the road to wellness!

Thanks so much for stopping by my place and leaving your 'footprint'.... yes, I too was amazed to find snow out there this morning. But it's been an odd year around here (northerly Alberta, Canada) and Spring has been toddling along at her own pace for sure!

Your post is my second reminder today to praise God for health, because He heals us!

Psa 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

I am glad you are feeling better.
Blessings!

I'm so glad you are better, Sarah. And, so thankful for the times we are down because it makes us appreciate so more when we are up.

Sarah - I'm glad you are feeling better. I hate to be sick - I think it interferes with life, but I have to stop and think about those who have terminal illness. I am blessed.

Thank you for sharing this.

Praise God you are feeling better!! You are absolutely right, we take our health for granted, until we get sick. But God has a plan even in our sicknesses...He provides opportunities for others to set up..and your girls, and your friends did just that- Made you smile big too!! It humbles us too, having to accept help. And we learn to reach out to others in their sickness and troubles, to comfort them like we have been comforted! So glad you are doing better! Be gentle with yourself!
Love,
Julie

The 3 main keys to good health are: Breath fresh air, Drink at least 6 glases of water per day and take 2 magnesium every night...
