Spiritual Sunday "I Need You Jesus"

Charlotte and Ginger host this awesome Spiritual Sundays. To join in post and add your name at http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/

"To me faith means not worrying." John Dewey

Some people think having faith is a crutch. That's ok with me 'cause I know I need Him to feel good....and to be strong.

Whenever Superman got close to 'kryptonite' he lost his powers. He became weak...ineffective...his enemies could do anything they wanted with him.  It's sort of the same for me with my faith. When I get away from God....and start depending on myself.....I feel the old fears kick in....and the angst of frustrations when I can't do something. Everything starts to feel like a big deal.

When I trust....and lean on Him....it's like being in the dead sea. Even if you  can't swim.....the salt won't let you sink. It pushes you up and holds you at the top of the water. When I'm close to Him...no matter what happens....I can't sink....just like the salt He won't let me drown....He holds me up. I can let go...relax...trust....cause I know....He's got everything under control.....

Lord I put my trust in You......I need you Jesus....

WONDERFUL post! Love this imagery that God won't let us sink. And I can SO relate to feeling disconnected when I don't dedicate my time with Him. It's a hunger, a craving...I gotta have it! Have a wonderful w/e! Hugs ~ Merana

Boy, did this post stike a chord with me. I have really been a doubting Thomas lately! I may say I trust the Lord, but I do not always totally surrender to Him. Even when I know He always comes through for us!?! Human nature, I guess.
Bless you, Sarah.

Hi Sarah,
Oh, I love the analogy of the Dead Sea and how it won't let us sink...and also, that is amazing about how that pastor was so wonderful in your life--what a true blessing!
Have a great weekend!

I don’t mind admitting I need a crutch either. I’m thankful to have Jesus as mine! What a neat video. Thanks for sharing.

Where would I be without my faith? I'm sure I would not be alive today. So if it is a crutch so be it!

What a good analogy you make! And we need to lean our whole weight on him. It is mentioned in the bible about leaning on his shoulders, and being carried on his shoulders. They are strength, and he will carry us.

I really like this analogy with the Dead Sea...we experienced this in the Great Salt Lake, too. A great way to think of things....Beautiful post. Blessings.

We went to the Dead Sea when we went to Israel in 1978. I was amazed at how beautiful the water was. From the name I expected it to be ugly. Maybe it was all that salt that made it so pretty. Thank you for sharing this encouraging post.
Blessings,
Charlotte

Oh, I love this analogy, Sarah, and I am taking it to heart right now--I'm leaning back, resting in the everlasting arms. Thank you dear friend. Great post!

That was a GREAT analogy. We've been called to be salt and light, because Jesus is Salt and Light. I'm having a little "ahah" moment. Thanks for the inspiring post! Blessings.

That is so true, Sarah. Thanks for the reminder.
It also makes me think of how nonbelievers put down "religion", relationship with God as a crutch. Hey, I'm all for a crutch! Especially if it makes me a better person and more opportunity to bless others. Bring on my Crutch!

Nikki...when my dad really thought the world of someone, he would always use the expression that they were "the salt of the earth". Perhaps this is why we can't sink in salt water because the true "Salt of the Earth" is holding us up!
