Spiritual Sunday . "When I Feel Afraid"

Thank you Charlotte and Ginger for hosting these Spiritual Sundays. To join in, post and add your name at  http://bloggerspirit.blogspot.com/

"The Bible's words are our hope..." Billy Graham

Sometimes I feel down....or a bit lost. I've figured out though...if I pick up my Bible....and read...I start feeling better. I don't always know what I'm reading. It doesn't always make sense at the moment. But I look at it... sort of like taking medicine. I don't know what's in the ingrediants but there's something in it that always makes me feel better.. I think...there's nothing more powerful than His Word. When I feel afraid...when I think I've lost my way....still He's there right beside me.

I confess that I don't read the bible on a daily basis. But I do get fed on line from all my fellow christian bloggers and some devotional sites. Sometimes when I read the bible, the Holy Spirit will lead me to scripture that is so relevant and so real. I know it is God teaching me what I need to learn at the moment.
Thanks for sharing Amy Grant's old song, Thy Word. It is so beautiful and still a favorite of mine. Bless you, Sarah.

Thank you for sharing this. It reminds me of how far I've come since I saw her in concert many, many years ago before she became mainstream. It still pops into my head when I need it.

I was just at church for the first time in a long time and the readings from the bible almost jumped out at me. You are so right in turning to the bible.

You have discovered an important Biblical truth. Proverbs says the Word is health to all our flesh. The absolute BEST medicine with NO side effects.;)

I'm not a huge bible reader but I can relate because some of the spiritual texts I have just immediately make me feel at peace. There's something comforting about loving words, whether from the bible or another source, that can just warm our hearts.

His word is the Living Word. You are right: there's nothing more powerful than His Word.

Oh yes, Sarah! God's word is a great comfort to us. I find at times just quotiing the few scriptures I have memorized takes away my fear or worry. There is power in the scriptures.
